AHS recommends the following to help prevent respiratory illnesses, including flu and COVID-19, from spreading:
- Wash your hands often and well
- Avoid touching your face, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Clean and disinfect surfaces that are frequently touched
- Stay at home and away from others if you are feeling ill
Frequent, proper hand washing is the most effective means of prevention. To review effective hand washing technique in video format, please visit this video.
Additional strategies to avoid spreading COVID-19 are to sneeze into your sleeve, stay home when sick, and avoid close contact with people who may be infected.
