March 29 Update

Good afternoon Connect parents;

I sincerely hope you have all been able to get some much needed rest amid the global chaos of COVID-19, and that you all remain healthy. As you may have heard through the media, Alberta Education announced the reallocation of some education funding for the balance of this school year (www.alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=699465898F7E9-EA93-B067-439512D7916A21C2).  The Connect leadership team met today and discussed the implications of these funding adjustments on our staff, students, and parents. Our superintendent, Chris Gilmour, will be participating in a teleconference tomorrow morning with superintendents from around the province and Alberta Education. We hope to gain some clarity from this conversation that will better inform any decisions that may subsequently need to be made and we will be meeting again tomorrow afternoon to review our position and will share pertinent information with you early in the week.

We remain committed to launching our distance learning program on Monday April 6th as previously announced; further details will be coming your way later in the week. In the face of the uncertain times in which we live, it is important to remember that we are a strong community because we care for one another and stand together…and together we will be when this historically unprecedented event has passed. In the meantime, feel free to reach out and let me know how you’re doing and if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your understanding and patience…I’ll be in touch soon.
