Extended Family Day weekend: A reminder that the school will be closed on February 12, 13, and 14 for our staff retreat to focus on the development of a new report card and further refine our approaches to inclusive education. The school will also be closed on February 17 for Family Day. Due to the timing of this change to the calendar, Tuesday Feb. 18th will be Day ‘F’ on the timetable.
This week, we are highlighting the Partners in Place initiative at Connect Charter School. In 2017, the Calgary Foundation awarded a grant to Connect Charter School, to foster a collaboration with Tsuut’ina Education, Mount Royal University, and the Outdoor Council of Canada, to use the principles of place-based education to build a bridge towards reconciliation. The work done was so successful, that in June, 2019, a second grant was awarded. I invite you to read the following two articles to further your understanding of this partnership. Also, please mark your calendars for the afternoon of Monday, April 27, when we will be celebrating this partnership at a community powwow. Watch for an email for your opportunity to sign up to volunteer and support this initiative.
Connect Spirit Wear
Connect has partnered with a local company, Kodiak Sports, to offer a custom spirit wear store for our school community. We will be making this available for purchases a few times throughout the year.
Our first run is open now until February 24, 2020, with delivery to the school scheduled for March 18, 2020.
All of the items will have a sizing chart on the website. There will also be sample sizes available to try on, in the Mountainview room, starting next week (Feb. 10, 2010) We do have the option to access extended sizes that may not show up on the website, so if there are any size requests please contact us.
We currently have a variety of items available, some with customization options. If there are any suggestions or special requests for additional items please forward those along and we will see what we can arrange for future purchases.
When you click on https://store.kodiaksports.ca/stores/connect-school you will be taken to the Connect store. There you will be able to create an account, select and pay for any of the items you may wish. The orders will then be delivered to the school around March 18, 2020, just before student led conferences and spring break.
If you have any further questions please contact Catherine Newton (email@example.com) or Dawn Elliott (firstname.lastname@example.org)
